Sprang is a method of plaiting on stretched threads that can be traced back several thousand years. Taking inspiration from prehistoric finds of sprang braided textiles, discuss an overview of the archaeological evidence with expert Sally Pointer. Learn how to set up a simple sprang frame using easily sourced bent sticks. Discover how to create S and Z interlinking using bright cotton yarn, then begin to craft a slightly larger project that can be continued at home. Participants usually go home with a small bag or Bronze Age style hairnet made in you choice of linen, wool or cotton, plus your frame and resources for future work.
