    • Thursday – Saxon Storytellers

    • Friday – Roman Rebels

  • Our Roman Rebels day will be based in our Roman Villa and garden, and will be led by the experts from the University of Reading’s Ancient Schoolroom project.
Travel back to Roman Britain with the Reading Ancient Schoolroom!

Immerse yourself in a morning of Roman school, with activities such as: writing on wax tablets, reading fables, calculating with beans, ink-making, playing ancient board games, and more.

In the afternoon you will get the chance to perform in a Roman play!

On August 16th we will be putting on an adapted production of Seneca’s tragedy, Agamemnon, an exciting tale of betrayal, murder, and revenge. Please note, the play deals with themes of death and murder. It will be explored in a fun and child-friendly way, but parents and guardians are advised to bear this in mind when booking.

Each workshop will include group ensemble games, one-to-one character work, and a 15-minute performance.

The performance will be at 3.30pm for both workshops and we strongly encourage family and friends to come and watch what promises to be an immensely enjoyable show!
